Match Day 10 Preview

The 10th day of the World Cup features 3 games. Messi and Argentina kick it off against Iran at 11:00. Germany and Ghana play at 2:00, and Bosnia vs Nigeria caps off the day's matches.

Today's Featured Game

Germany vs Ghana

Germany looked like the most impressive team in the tournament after their 4-0 thrashing of Portugal. They will look to seal their spot in the next round with a win against Ghana. Even without Marco Reus, or an outright striker, the German attack looks unstoppable. The attacking play is seamless and relentless. The solid play in the back line and midfield allows the Germans to control every facet of the game. It will take something special to beat Germany, and I don't think its coming from Ghana.

Ghana are coming off a late loss to the United States in their opener. They looked the more dominant side in the match, but they struggled to create clear cut chances. They need something out of this game to keep themselves alive in the competition, but against the #2 team in the world it doesn't seem like they will. Ghana won't control the game like they did against the US. They will have to defend and hit on the counter, which is easier said than done against the German machine.

Players to Watch:

Germany

Mario Götze (Midfielder) - Germany don't have a true striker in their starting line-up, so the role sometimes falls to Gotze. As an attacking midfielder, Gotze is one of the best in the world. His dribbling ability and vision can cause a lot of problems for any back line.

Thomas Müller (Midfielder/Forward) - Muller is another player that often plays as a false 9 in the German formation. His hat trick in the opening game powered the Germans past Portugal. He has 8 goals in 7 career World Cup matches.

Ghana

Asamoah Gyan (Forward) - The danger man at the head of the Ghanaian attack. Gyan is the catalyst for his team. He provided a beautiful back heel assist for Ghana's only goal against the US, and he created problems all game long for the American back line. If Ghana are going to score it's probably going to be because of this guy.

Kwadwo Asamoah (Midfielder) - The reigning 2-time Ghanaian footballer of the year. Asamoah's speed and strength down the left side make him a one of the biggest threats that they have. A lot of the chances that Ghana create come down his left side.

Game Prediction:

I don't see anyway that Germany is going to lose this game. Ghana aren't a bad team, but Germany are nearly impossible to beat in the World Cup. The Germans are going to dictate the pace of the game and attack in numbers. Germany will eliminate Ghana with a multi-goal victory.

Score Prediction:

Germany 4 Ghana 0

Argentina vs Iran

If Argentina are the team that I think they are, they will have no trouble dispatching Iran. This game should be comfortable for the South Americans, and a win would put them into the round of 16. Iran will come out and play very defensively against this Argentinian attack force, but Mess and co. will wear them down and put a few past the goalie.

Argentina 3 Iran 0

Bosnia and Herzegovina vs Nigeria

Bosnia needs a win here if they want to qualify for the next round, and I think they'll get it. Nigeria looked uninspired in their first match against Iran. Bosnia will be a tougher opponent, with the likes of Dzeko and Pjanic leading the lineup. I think the struggle for African sides at this world cup continues.

Bosnia 3 Nigeria 0
